LOCATION AND GEOGRAPHY




Situated on the edge of the Tennessee Valley, near the center of the southern boundary of Tennessee, Giles County is approximately 30 miles (north to south) and 20 miles (east to west) with an area of 619 sq. mi. We are 70 miles south of Nashville and 40 miles north of Huntsville, Alabama, two of the South's most progressive cities. Its topography, beautifully contoured by rocks and high winding ridges in the north ( 1,100 ft. elev. ) stretches to deep
fertile valleys of Richland Creek and Elk River in the south (600 ft. elev.)

      As well as serving as an ideal distribution center, the Giles County area

CLIMATE
      Giles County enjoys a seasonal moderate climate. Winters are mild,
      springs are pleasant, summers are long and autumns are beautiful and
      picturesque.

      The average rainfall is 42.91 inches, and the average snowfall is 6.3
      inches. Clear first freeze normally occurs about the first week in
      November and the last freeze occurring during the last week of March.

      The annual average temperature is 61.5 degrees, with the monthly aver-
      age high temperature of January being 48.8 degrees and for July 89.9
      degrees. The monthly average low temperature for January is 27.0
      degrees and for July is 64.8 degrees.
